Cameroon Under-23 international Bryan Song, 19, has signed his first professional contract with Metz, a three-year deal agreed on Tuesday. The right-back is the son of former Metz defender Rigobert Song.

According to L'Équipe, he is the 10th homegrown player in recent months to turn professional, following Jahyann Pandore a few days earlier.

Song returned to training with purpose in recent weeks after an injury that slowed him last season. He joined Metz during the 2023 close season after starting out in the Paris region, spending his final two pre-academy years at Paris FC.

Rigobert Song played for Metz from 1994 to 1998 and remains highly regarded at the club.

Metz continue to reshape their defence, and Song’s promotion from the academy forms part of that rebuild.
