Manchester United have desperately lacked a midfield signing or two this season.
The Red Devils were keen on bringing in Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba in the summer.
Nonetheless, the deal could not be completed as the Seagulls warned United off the player early on in the pursuit.
United also reportedly made a late attempt to bring in Conor Gallagher on loan from Atletico Madrid but this proposal was also knocked back.
It is clear that United will look to strengthen in the midfield in January and the summer, so The Peoples Person asked its readers which midfielder should the club try and sign in the winter window.
38% of readers feel that the club would be smart to make an instant return for the Cameroonian in the winter market.
Baleba has taken the Premier League by storm with his all-action play but he has struggled for form this year.
Nonetheless, Baleba would certainly bring energy and could play as a holding player or in a more advanced role.
33% of those polled see the Crystal Palace as the man to go for in the centre of the park.
The Englishman has been in wonderful form for Palace lately as they went on a 19 game unbeaten run stretching into last season, winning the FA Cup and Community Shield along the way.
Wharton is very much a different profile to Baleba as he aims to control from deep with a truly stunning passing range for one so young.
Surprisingly, only 15% of supporters voted for the Nottingham Forest midfielder, Elliot Anderson.
The Englishman’s rise has been meteoric as he is now regarded as one of the league’s top holding midfield options.
He made his England debut this year after impressing for Forest in the Premier League and looks well on track to be a key member of the World Cup squad next year.
6% of fans feel that United should look outside of the Premier League and think Sevilla’s Lucien Agoume would be a good option to sign.
The Cameroonian has impressed in La Liga and would likely come significantly cheaper than a Baleba, Wharton or Anderson.
6% believed that the club should look elsewhere for a midfielder but that it was still necessary to bring in a midfield addition in the winter.
2% of those polled surprisingly felt that it was not necessary to bring in a midfield signing in the January window.
