The first half of Manchester United's Premier League clash with Chelsea at Old Trafford delivered high drama, featuring two goals and two dismissals in a whirlwind of action.
The momentum shifted when Chelsea's Robert Sánchez was shown a red card, allowing the hosts to capitalize and fire in two goals. However, the sides were leveled just before the break when the referee brandished another red, this time to Manchester United's Casemiro for a second bookable offense.
In being sent off after scoring, the Brazilian midfielder etched his name into the history books. He became the first Manchester United player to both score and be sent off in the first half of a Premier League game, a rare feat only previously accomplished by Emmanuel Adebayor for Tottenham against Arsenal in November 2012.
The half was further marked by concern for Chelsea, as manager Enzo Maresca was forced to withdraw the injured Cole Palmer.
