CD Castellón visit La Rosaleda on Saturday in a pivotal LaLiga Hypermotion match, with heightened concern after disorder before Almería versus Málaga resulted in five arrests.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, National Police detained five people near the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos, four linked to Málaga ultras and one to UD Almería, ahead of Sunday’s game. One detainee from the Almería end reportedly lost consciousness and was later taken to hospital.
The fixture had been designated high risk, so the security plan added UIP riot units and aerial support. Swift arrests followed prior monitoring and identification of high-risk individuals. Case files are due to be processed this week before the five appear in court.
The most tense scenes arose around the South Stand roundabout during the team-bus welcome. Video from the area shows UIP officers restraining on the ground a young man who resisted strongly. Officers formed a cordon, using batons to keep back a hostile crowd shouting "fuera, fuera", while private security assisted amid smoke from flares.
The organisational breakdown saw rival supporters mingle in the same zone. The initially festive mood quickly gave way to clashes and panic, with many running as glass bottles, plastic containers and stones were thrown.
Málaga host Castellón on 25 April in the 37th round, kick-off 21.00 at La Rosaleda. The result could prove decisive in the race for automatic promotion and the play-offs.
