Celtic are in a strong position in the Premiership right now. They hold a 16-point lead over the Rangers right now. While the title race is not mathematically over, winning the upcoming Glasgow Derby will pretty much put it beyond any doubt although it is more than likely that the result will not have a wider impact on the destination of the trophy.

Celtic must be eager to win this upcoming Glasgow Derby. They lost the last one against the Rangers away at Ibrox and by a convincing 3-0 scoreline.

Unfortunately, Celtic will be without one of their midfielders against the Rangers. At least that seems to be the case as things stand.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Brendan Rodgers said about the situation of Bernardo:

"No, Paulo won’t be in until after the international break. I doubt he will make Rangers, but definitely after that he should be okay."

Bernardo had started the season well but his form has faded away slowly. Right now, the likes of Reo Hatate, Callum McGregor and Arne Engels are clearly ahead of him in the pecking order, perhaps Luke McCowan as well.

Bernardo has done well in the Glasgow Derby in the past. So, his absence will come as a blow for Celtic for sure but not one that they cannot overcome.

Celtic have been the much better team when it comes to recent Glasgow derbies. But the 3-0 defeat away at Ibrox earlier this year shows that the Rangers are capable of pulling off a result on their day. The Hoops need to bring their A-game.

Of course, before the Glasgow Derby, Celtic have another tough test to overcome. They will face Hibernian in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup. Hibs are one of the in-form teams in Scotland right now and the Hoops cannot make the mistake of looking past them because of their upcoming game against the Rangers.
