Celtic look set to complete a third loan deal on deadline day with the imminent arrivals of Joel Mvuka and Benjamin Arthur. The Scottish Champions had secured a deal for Mvuka but an issue was flagged in his medical, which prompted frantic renegotiations of the deal.

Lorient and Celtic had agreed a permanent transfer over the ex Bodo Glimt winger but after the medical, doubts were raised as to whether a deal would be done. Parties have managed to rush with a view to getting an agreement across the line.

The Scottish Champions and the Ligue 2 club have now agreed an initial loan deal, with an option to buy for a fee of around £3m. That follows deals for Tomas Cvancara and Junior Amadu, who have both signed on loan deals with Celtic retaining options to buy.

MON wants a right sided central defender to bolster the squad and the Celts look like they have secured the signature of Brentford centre-back Arthur. The 20-year-old is set to join Celtic on loan until the end of the season.

Despite making just three professional appearances in his career, Arthur is expected to compete for first team minutes.

Elsewhere, Celtic are linked with a move for ex-Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is a free agent after leaving Besiktas in May.
