Real Madrid have significantly strengthened their defense for the upcoming 2026-27 season, adding three new defenders, i.e., Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, and Denzel Dumfries. Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho wants yet another new center-back, while the Merengues have also renewed Antonio Rudiger’s contract for another year.

All of these signings show that the white club is currently looking to have more experienced players in their squad, something that can also help with the development of the youngsters in their team.

However, this situation has also closed the avenue for the return of a younger center-back, on whom Real Madrid have several rights, and who has made a huge leap in growth during the last year, Jacobo Ramon.

Although his return to the Merengue club is unlikely this summer, a change of clubs is still not ruled out for him. In fact, Diario AS reports that the English powerhouse Chelsea is interested in the center-back. The Blues, with Xabi Alonso in charge, are clear that he would be a very good addition to their team, but for now, they have not taken any concrete steps for his signing.

Even if they decided to go ahead with this operation, it would not be an easy signing for the London side. Firstly, they will have to convince Ramon, who reportedly wants to continue at Como, and also wants to play in the UEFA Champions League, a competition in which the Italian side would be playing next season but the English would not be.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid also have 50% rights of the player and some favorable options if they want have him back under their orders. For now, they are counting on Jacobo Ramon  to continue at Como to continue his growth, and although they do not need him this summer, things might change next year.
