Chelsea are preparing to take on Port Vale in the FA Cup, and before kick off the pundits on duty, including Joleon Lescott, discussed the big news from yesterday’s pre-match press conference. After Enzo Fernandez made his desire to leave Chelsea quite clear during the international break, manager Liam Rosenior announced that the midfielder would be let out for two games, with today being the first.
“I felt he probably could have taken a bit more responsibility and made the decision his own,” Lescott said of Rosenior’s announcement of the decision.
We get that – maybe he has a point. It certainly doesn’t help the impression that the manager lacks authority and is just a puppet for those above him. But Rosenior would argue that it was a very deliberate attempt to show that it’s not a personal thing, it’s a collective decision, to avoid really damaging his relationship with Enzo.
