Chelsea are assessing a summer move for Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs as they look at reinforcing their options in goal, according to Football Insider.

The Blues remain in the race for next season’s Champions League and reached the FA Cup semi-final with a 7-0 win over Port Vale on Saturday, yet there is thought to be significant work ahead under head coach Liam Rosenior.

Robert Sanchez has struggled for consistency and Filip Jorgensen has not provided a convincing alternative. Despite spending almost £50m on the pair, Chelsea could target another keeper in the next window.

Roefs, a Netherlands Under-21 international signed from NEC Nijmegen, impressed in his debut season at Sunderland. He has nine clean sheets in 30 appearances in all competitions and was among the Premier League’s most consistent performers before an injury sidelined him for the last four fixtures.

The report adds Chelsea are keeping tabs on the 21-year-old and are weighing whether to pay up to £60m. It also states Liverpool and Manchester City are monitoring Roefs as they consider their own goalkeeping plans.
