Coaching Change at Manchester United Affects Roma and Napoli | OneFootball

Manchester United have sacked Ruben Amorim after just 14 months, and the decision could impact Roma and Napoli, which were pursuing Joshua Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo, although their transfers weren’t imminent.

According to Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta), the boss was also ousted because of the transfer market. He and the directors often didn’t see eye to eye on some players and moves. The Red Devils will be in flux for a while. They’ll need to get settled under caretaker manager Darren Fletcher or a new gaffer.

Roma have been in pole position for Zirkzee for a few weeks and were waiting to finalize the terms of the deal and some returns from AFCON, while Napoli were ready to jump on the opportunity to bring in Mainoo once Manchester United made up their mind about his future.

The midfielder is now more likely to stay put. He never had a problem with the club but only with the coach, who wasn’t fielding him consistently. The Partenopei have been in touch with his camp but hadn’t received the go-ahead on his departure yet.

According to AdnKronos, the Red Devils will contemplate Enzo Maresca, who has just left Chelsea and has some ties with their CEO Omar Berrada, Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, and Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner, while Xavi and Gareth Southgate are more unlikely. Ole-Gunnar Solkjaer threw his hat in the mix too.

The former will likely still be on his way out, considering how he has fared so far, unless the new manager really likes him. Plus, they’ll probably make some splashes on the transfer to adjust their squad. Instead, the youngster will have a better chance to regain  prominence.
