Colombia name 26 for 2026 World Cup, Díaz and James headline squad

According to Globo.com, Colombia have named a 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, drawn in Group K with Portugal, Uzbekistan and DR Congo. They open on 17 June against Uzbekistan in Mexico City at 23:00 Brasília time.
There are four Brasileirão call-ups, Jhon Arias of Palmeiras, Jorge Carrascal of Flamengo, Juan Portilla of Athletico-PR and Andrés Gómez of Vasco.
Coach Néstor Lorenzo’s squad is headlined by Luis Díaz and James Rodríguez. Díaz, a Bayern Munich standout, is set for his first World Cup after debuting post-2018 and Colombia missing 2022. James led the side to the 2014 quarter-finals and, at 34, is heading to his third tournament.
Goalkeepers: Camilo Vargas, Alvaro Montero, David Ospina. Defenders: Davinson Sánchez, Jhon Lucumí, Yerry Mina, Daniel Muñoz, Willer Ditta, Santiago Arias, Johan Mojica, Deiver Machado.
Midfielders: Richard Ríos, Jefferson Lerma, Kevin Castaño, Gustavo Puerta, Jhon Arias, Jorge Carrascal, Juan Portilla, Juan Quintero, James Rodríguez, Jaminton Campaz. Forwards: Cucho Hernández, Luis Díaz, Luis Suárez, Andrés Gómez, Jhon Córdoba.
Colombia then face DR Congo in Akron on 23 June at 23:00 Brasília time. They finish the group against Portugal in Miami on 27 June at 20:30.
Colombia have also appeared at World Cups in 1962, 1990, 1994, 1998 and 2018. The 2026 tournament will be staged across the United States, Canada and Mexico, with 104 matches. The opener is Mexico v South Africa on 11 June at the Azteca, the knockouts start on 28 June, and the final is on 19 July at MetLife Stadium.
