After the signing of Joni Hernandez from Tenerife, FC Barcelona have now officially announced the arrival of Juan Ybarra from the Canary Islands club, with the 22-year-old joining the reserve team, Barça Atletic.
The Spanish midfielder has signed a two-year contract with the club until the summer of 2028.
“FC Barcelona and CD Tenerife have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Juan Ybarra,” the club statement read.
“The midfielder signs a contract with the Club until June 30, 2028 and will strengthen Juliano Belletti’s Barça Atletic midfield.”
With this signing, Barcelona continue to strengthen their reserve team ranks which is going through major squad changes after their failed bid for promotion from the RFEF Segunda Division last season.
With a number of players leaving either permanently or on loan, the Catalans have been actively strengthening Juliano Belletti’s squad with Ybarra becoming the latest addition.
The 22-year-old midfielder came through the youth ranks at Rayo Vallecano before moving to Tenerife this past season.
Ybarra excelled for the club’s reserve team, racking up 13 goals and nine assists, showcasing the attacking threat and quality he brings to the table. He also made his first-team debut for Tenerife in April this year.
Barcelona will hope that his goal threat and creative capabilities help the reserve team achieve promotion to the RFEF Primera Division.
