Manchester City take on high-flying Bourmemouth in a tricky Premier League test at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.

After their two month unbeaten streak spanning nine games in all competitions came to an end last weekend against Aston Villa, the Blues returned to winning ways in midweek against Swansea City.

With Erling Haaland earning a well-deserved rest in Wales, goals from Jeremy Doku, Omar Marmoush and Rayan Cherki helped Manchester City to a 3-1 comeback win over Swansea City in the Carabao Cup fourth-round.

City will face Brentford in the Carabao Cup quarter-final as Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff look to steer this new-look side to challenge on all fronts after they endured a trophyless, sobering 2024-25 season in the backdrop of the highest of highs between 2021-24.

Rodri remained absent from the travelling squad in midweek as the Ballon d’Or winner steps up fitness after returning to first-team training last week, having missed all of October after pulling him hamstring in a 1-0 win away at Brentford in the Premier League.

Nico Gonzalez also started on the bench against Swansea City but the 23-year-old is set to return to the starting Xi against Bournemouth on Sunday, with Guardiola impressed by the 23-year-old January signing’s performances and desire to learn.

There remained doubts over Mateo Kovacic’s availability to face the Cherries in the days leading to their visit to Manchester, with Guardiola wary of the threat posed by Andoni Iraola’s side after they inflicted a damaging 2-1 defeat over the Blues last season.

Manchester City can ill-afford many more premature slip-ups in the title race as Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points with a 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday.

Ahead of Sunday’s 16:30 UK kick-off at the Etihad Stadium, here are the confirmed lineups from both dressing rooms.
