Conor Coady was knocked out by a shot and taken to hospital during Charlton Athletic's 1-1 draw at Watford on Bank Holiday Monday, which marked his 500th career club appearance.

The 33-year-old was struck in second-half stoppage time at Vicarage Road and was carried off on a stretcher. The club said in a statement that scans cleared him and he was discharged that evening, adding thanks to Watford's medical staff and confirming he will be monitored under the appropriate protocols.

Coady is a former Wolves captain with more than 300 appearances for the club.

He joined Wrexham in the summer and, with minutes limited, switched to Charlton on loan in January.

He later thanked the medical staff on social media.
