A Copenhagen restaurant named Olise, inspired by Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, has thrown its support behind France at the World Cup. Staff wear his number 11 shirt on match days and every one of his games is shown inside.

According to L'Équipe, the team have invited him to visit after the tournament, though contact so far amounts to a single like on Instagram. The buzz built further before Norway v France on Friday at 21:00.

The venue presents itself as a lively, relaxed modern bistro with a French-leaning food and wine list. Part of Copenhagen Food Collective, it seats 65 in Vesterbro and refreshes its menu seasonally, from gougères and scallops to a much-loved roast chicken and chips.

The name was chosen at opening in 2025 to mirror passions for food, wine, music and football, with Olise among the team’s favourite players. The house ethos prizes understatement, aiming to stand out without noise, and a style that is creative, personal and elegant while feeling natural, much like the player’s game.

Tourists, including many French diners, fill the room when the big screen is unfurled to watch the France playmaker’s dribbles and disguised passes with the sound muted. He has 19 caps and seven goals. A visit remains the hope, ideally once France’s campaign has concluded.
