Corinthians and Argentina’s Talleres are close to finalising a deal to settle the debt from the January 2024 signing of midfielder Rodrigo Garro. Meu Timao understands Corinthians returned the first draft and are awaiting the document for signature.

Corinthians aimed to deliberate by 10 April, the deadline set by Talleres, but the Argentines only sent their draft on 9 April. The terms were reviewed and returned, with Talleres now set to complete the paperwork.

The debt stems from a Fifa ruling of 3.6 million dollars, about R$ 18.7 million, for delayed payments. With banking charges, it could reach roughly R$ 40 million. Instalment figures remain confidential.

In early April, the club’s advisory council, Cori, approved the proposed payment plan. The Fifa decision was issued in February 2025, and Corinthians appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to avoid a new transfer ban.

Talks had stalled amid strained relations between former president Augusto Melo and Talleres. A new approach unlocked progress, with president Osmar Stabile travelling to Argentina to meet Andrés Fassi, a gesture welcomed in Córdoba.

Stabile has formed an internal finance group at Parque São Jorge. It settled dues to Santos Laguna for Félix Torres, ending the previous Fifa transfer ban, and worked on the Matías Rojas case. The same team is leading talks with Talleres.

Despite the dispute, Garro has continued to play, making 121 appearances, 96 starts, 16 goals and 28 assists. He won Paulistão 2025, Copa do Brasil 2025 and Supercopa do Brasil 2026.
