Corinthians await João Ricardo’s medical before sealing goalkeeper signing

Corinthians may gain another option for the goalkeeper position in the coming days. The club is awaiting medical examinations of goalkeeper João Ricardo to finalize an agreement already in progress between the parties. The information was initially reported by journalist Bianca Molina.

The management conditions any official announcement on the athlete's medical clearance. At 37 years old, João Ricardo underwent surgery on his right shoulder last October and was out of action for approximately four months. In recent weeks, the goalkeeper has posted images of ball training, indicating progress in his recovery.

This move comes amid Corinthians' search for more experience to strengthen the squad in this position. Hugo Souza is the starter, while Felipe Longo is the immediate substitute. Matheus Donelli was loaned to football in the United Arab Emirates, and Kauê completes the group of available goalkeepers.

João Ricardo previously worked with coach Dorival Júnior in 2022, at Ceará. This shared history is one of the factors considered internally in assessing his profile.

The negotiation has been ongoing since the beginning of the year, but the club chose to wait for the athlete's physical progress before moving to the final stage. If he passes the exams, the goalkeeper is expected to sign a contract and join the squad for the remainder of the season.
