Corinthians will be without Matheus Bidu and Alex Santana for Sunday’s trip to Bahia, with kick-off at 16:00 at Arena Fonte Nova in the 20th round of the Brasileirão.

The club said in a statement that Bidu has pubic pain and is not with the travelling squad, while Alex sustained trauma to his right knee during training at CT Joaquim Grava. Both have remained in São Paulo for treatment.

Both were available for the 3-0 win over Remo on Thursday. Bidu was withdrawn in the second half after a cut to the head and later appeared at the training ground wearing protective headgear. Alex did not come on against the Pará side.

There are four further absentees in Salvador. Left-back Hugo and forward Vitinho are in physical transition, Kayke continues his recovery from surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, and forward Memphis Depay is on holiday after playing at the World Cup for the Netherlands.

Bidu is first choice at left-back and has 33 appearances this season, 30 of them starts, with two goals and two assists. Alex Santana has featured twice under Fernando Diniz after a long spell out of first-team plans.

Corinthians are chasing a fourth consecutive league victory and sit seventh on 27 points.
