Corinthians face Barra on Thursday for a Copa do Brasil last-16 place worth R$ three million.
According to Meu Timao, both clubs have already secured R$ two million for reaching the fifth phase, which is Corinthians’ first appearance in this year’s edition. The CBF tie starts at 19:30 at Neo Química Arena in Itaquera. Corinthians hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg in Santa Catarina, Jesse Lingard scoring, so a draw would be enough.
The prize carries weight for Corinthians given current finances. The club has delayed salary payments this year, including wages paid five days late this month, and holds an estimated gross debt of about R$ 2.7 billion.
Matters worsened in March, when the accumulated deficit reached R$ 131.1 million, a 40% rise on February’s R$ 93.7 million, far above the R$ 36.4 million budgeted for the period.
In 2025, when Corinthians won the Copa do Brasil, the club generated total revenue of R$ 97,791,750 from the tournament, combining all allocations from their third-round entry to the champions’ prize.
