A curtailed pre-season and a congested early schedule have already taken a toll on Corinthians, with muscle injuries mounting.
According to Globo.com, across 45 days and 11 matches the squad have sustained four muscular injuries, exactly double the tally in the same period last year.
The latest setback is to centre-forward Yuri Alberto, diagnosed with a grade two injury to the biceps femoris in his left thigh after the game against São Bernardo on Sunday.
The recovery period is estimated at four to six weeks, though the club have not confirmed it and it depends on the forward’s progress.
Breno Bidon and Kaio César also remain under medical care for muscular problems, so they are unavailable. Since their Paulista opener, Corinthians have not played a match without absences, including the Supercopa Rei final, which the club treated as a priority.
Last year, in the equivalent period, the team played 12 matches and made a long trip to Venezuela for their Libertadores debut. In 2026 they have featured in the state championship, the Brasileiro and the Supercopa Rei, after a shorter break that saw them lift the 2025 Copa do Brasil on 21 December and return on 3 January, then debut on 11 January.
