Corinthians were forced into two first-half changes in a 3-0 win over Capivariano at Neo Química Arena in the sixth round of the Campeonato Paulista on Thursday, after injuries to Kaio César and Hugo Farias. According to Meu Timao, the setbacks have concerned the coaching staff.
Kaio César, one of four signings at the start of the season, reported right hamstring pain at 10 minutes and, visibly dejected, walked off to be replaced by Dieguinho at 14. He began ice treatment on the bench.
Left-back Hugo Farias felt his right knee after a challenge at 36 minutes and was taken off on a stretcher, heading straight to the dressing room. Matheus Bidu replaced him. The pair are expected to undergo tests on Friday.
Hugo’s issue is more problematic, as Corinthians lack a natural deputy for Matheus Bidu. The club have advanced a move to bring back Fabrizio Angileri and hope to speed up talks.
Even so, the replacements were pivotal in Itaquera. The full-back created the opener for Dieguinho, who also supplied an assist.
Corinthians host Palmeiras on Sunday in the seventh round, a direct meeting for the overall lead. The duo’s involvement in the Dérbi is uncertain.
