Corinthians expect José Martínez to return to Brazil by the end of the week and finally report back for training after almost a month away. According to Globo.com, the club remain irritated by the saga.
Martínez remains in Venezuela awaiting a new passport after completing renewal procedures last week, including photographs. The document is required to secure a Brazilian work visa.
Corinthians' frustration has grown as he has not responded to recent messages from head coach Dorival Júnior. He is, however, in touch with members of the board.
The club will decide on any sanction when he returns, and he is likely to receive a fine for missing training since 3 January. He was punished for skipping sessions in 2025.
His trip has already cost him Corinthians' first three matches of 2026, against Ponte Preta, RB Bragantino and São Paulo. He will also miss Thursday's derby with Santos and is not expected to be named to face Velo Clube on Sunday.
