Corinthians have fined André Luiz 10% of his registered salary after the teenager’s obscene gesture led to a first-half red card in the derby against Palmeiras, according to Meu Timao.

At 35 minutes, Palmeiras players protested after André placed his right hand on his genitals. Referee Flavio Rodrigues de Souza consulted VAR and showed a straight red for an obscene gesture towards an opponent. In the second half, Matheuzinho was also sent off for violent conduct against Flaco López.

The club spoke with André before deciding on the penalty, weighing his good day-to-day behaviour but prioritising the internal code of conduct for the sanction.

A similar measure was taken with midfielder Allan, who was docked 10% of his salary after being dismissed against Fluminense two weeks earlier for an obscene gesture towards the opposing bench. He acknowledged his mistake and apologised the following day.

The 19-year-old has made 20 appearances in 2026, including 17 starts, and scored three goals, making him the club’s second top scorer this season.

André is available again for Fernando Diniz on Wednesday. Corinthians host Independiente Santa Fe of Colombia at Neo Química Arena at 21:30 in the second round of the Copa Libertadores group stage.
