Corinthians idol and former under-20 coach unveiled by Minas Gerais club

After leaving the Corinthians under-20 team last year, former player Danilo took over as coach of Pouso Alegre. He was announced through the program Os Donos da Bola and was introduced last Saturday, the 20th. This is the professional's first experience in the role away from Parque São Jorge.

A Corinthians idol as a player, Danilo began his new career with the club's under-23 team, a category that is now extinct. He then took charge of the under-20 team and won the Copinha in 2024, defeating Cruzeiro in a match with a packed Neo Química Arena. However, after negative results, he was dismissed by the management.

Pouso Alegre competed in the Série D in 2025 but failed to qualify for the knockout stage after the first phase, finishing fifth in the group. Additionally, they did not secure a spot in the competition for next year, having only the Campeonato Mineiro to compete in 2026 so far.

It is worth mentioning that Danilo was born in Minas Gerais and, for the first time since starting his career as a player, will have the opportunity to live in his home state. As an athlete, he played for Goiás, São Paulo, Kashima Antlers (Japan), Corinthians, and Vila Nova, where he retired in 2019.
