Corinthians will first seek to settle their debt with Talleres over Rodrigo Garro before addressing Memphis Depay’s outstanding payments and any renewal talks, according to Meu Timao.
Executive Marcelo Paz said the priority is avoiding another transfer ban by resolving the R$ 23.35 million Garro fee, plus interest. President Osmar Stabile recently travelled to Argentina, meeting Andres Fassi at his home to table a discounted upfront offer, with talks still unfinished.
The club owe Memphis more than R$ 30 million in signing-on fees and bonuses that were due under his contract. Paz outlined a plan to agree a payment schedule, not in a single instalment, after which they could consider a renewal, stressing both sides are minded to talk. He added that Memphis understands the stance and wants the team to progress.
Paz said the ideal scenario would be to have everything settled before the 2026 World Cup in North America so the forward travels with matters resolved.
He declined to reveal whether any new offer would mirror current terms, saying only the club will pursue what is viable. Signed in September 2024, Memphis’s deal includes signing-on, appearance, goal and assist bonuses, plus salary and image rights, with Esportes da Sorte covering part of his wages.
Last week Memphis stated he wishes to stay and is waiting for the club to make contact to start negotiations. His contract runs to 20 June, the only deal in the squad that expires mid-year.
