Corinthians have been hit with a six-month transfer ban for failing to pay an instalment agreed at the CBF's CNRD.

The fifth payment, due last Friday, is worth about R$ 8 million and the board has set no timetable to clear it. The club said it had not yet been notified of the new sanction.

It is Corinthians’ third such restriction in two months, after two earlier bans imposed by FIFA. The first related to a debt owed to Philadelphia Union from the 2024 signing of midfielder José Martínez.

The second arrived last week over non-payment of a disciplinary fine of US$ 225,000. The punishment was linked to delays in meeting financial obligations tied to negotiations involving José Martínez, Charles of Midtjylland and Talles Magno of New York City FC.

This is not the first time Corinthians have fallen behind on the CNRD schedule. The club paid the first two instalments after their due dates, arguing that the five-day window to confirm payment also allowed settlement within that period.

The CNRD imposed a transfer ban immediately after those delays and kept it in place even after payment was proved the following day. On that occasion, the club were unable to register new players for about three months.
