Corinthians set to terminate striker’s contract, eyeing million-saving deal

The forward Héctor Hernández has been training separately from the Corinthians squad since August 19, 2025, by decision of Dorival Júnior and his coaching staff, with the approval of the management, and his time with Timão is now very close to an end.

The information initially reported by Jorge Nicola and confirmed by Central do Timão is that the Corinthians management, represented by Osmar Stabile and Marcelo Paz, is very close to finalizing the contract termination with the Spanish forward. The agreement could save the club between R$ 4 million and R$ 5 million in the payroll, without any confirmation so far of any payout by Timão – a situation similar to that involving left-back Diego Palacios, which resulted in a R$ 2.6 million reduction in the club's payroll.

Signed in 2024 on the recommendation of the Corinthians scouting department, Héctor played 24 matches, scored two goals, and provided two assists. The forward was part of the squads that won the Paulistão and the Copa do Brasil in 2025, even scoring a goal in the campaign for the fourth championship. His last appearance for Timão was in June 2025, in the 12th round of the Brazilian Championship.

Besides Héctor, midfielder Alex Santana, signed in 2024 from Athletico, and defender Renato, developed in the club's youth categories, are also training separately from the main squad, at alternative times. Corinthians is seeking possible negotiations for these players, aiming to further reduce the payroll.
