On Tuesday night, Corinthians announced the signing of 39-year-old winger Uhelliton Bonfim de Souza, known as OitoMeia, for their futsal team. The club said in a post that he joins after four seasons in Italian futsal to reinforce the side for the remainder of 2026.

OitoMeia has been a regular presence at the Ginásio Wlamir Marques, training and receiving physiotherapy with club staff despite not being under contract. He becomes the third addition for the year after Kevin and Fabinho, with Kevin already departing after failing to adapt to the professional game.

Born in Guarulhos in Greater São Paulo, he came through academies across football and futsal. At 17, in 2005, he was part of Brasiliense alongside Vampeta and Marcelinho Carioca.

He made his name at Jaraguá, one of Brazil’s most traditional futsal clubs, staying for seven seasons with a brief spell at Marreco in 2016. Even during a squad rebuild, he remained influential and once finished a season as the team’s top scorer.

He delivered one of Brazilian futsal’s most talked-about moments in 2014, beating Falcão with a lambreta in a match against Sorocaba. Before agreeing terms with Corinthians, he spent four consecutive seasons at Petrarca Calcio in Italy.

Corinthians are in a difficult LNF campaign, sitting 13th, one place above the relegation play-off spots and close to the Z2. In the Paulista, they could go top if they beat Indaiatuba on Wednesday.
