Corinthians striker named among world’s 80 most valuable players

Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto has been included among the 80 most valuable football players in the world, according to a study by the CIES Football Observatory released this week. The research estimates his transfer value between 23 and 27 million euros, equivalent to approximately R$ 150 to R$ 170 million at the current exchange rate.

This increase in value reinforces the number 9’s position as one of the club’s main assets in the market. In March, Corinthians had already turned down an offer of around 30 million euros (R$ 186 million) for the striker, as revealed by agent André Cury. In July, the club announced the renewal of Yuri Alberto’s contract until July 2030 – previously valid until the end of 2027.

The release clause amounts were maintained at R$ 500 million for the domestic market and 100 million euros (R$ 630 million) for transfers abroad. Despite inquiries and offers from European football in recent transfer windows, both parties have always shown interest in maintaining the partnership.

The striker has already attracted interest from clubs such as Southampton-ENG, West Ham-ENG, Wolverhampton-ENG, and Real Betis-ESP. In June, the Spanish outlet As even reported that Yuri Alberto was on Atlético de Madrid’s radar, though negotiations did not progress. Currently, Corinthians holds 50% of the player’s economic rights.

The CIES methodology considers variables such as contract length, on-field performance, club characteristics, player popularity, and market trends from the past ten years, based on more than eight thousand transfers in 64 countries. It’s worth noting that in April, the organization had already ranked the Corinthians number 9 among the most valuable players in Brazilian football, behind only Estêvão (Palmeiras) and Wesley (Flamengo).
