Midfielder Alisson remains in limbo, with Corinthians yet to pay the upfront R$ one million needed to finalise his loan from São Paulo.

According to Globo.com, São Paulo accepted the move on condition that most of the fee be paid immediately, and as of Tuesday no deposit had arrived.

Despite an agreement in principle, Corinthians are reluctant to further strain their cash flow on those terms. President Osmar Stabile is exploring ways to delay payment, and the deal could collapse.

São Paulo will not release the player without the money, though he has been excused from training at the Barra Funda base. Corinthians are still seeking funds.

The structure includes that upfront sum now, then a further R$ 500 thousand in the second half of the year.

If they want to keep Alisson after the one-year loan, Corinthians would need to pay São Paulo two point five million euros, around R$ 15.5 million at current rates.

The contract, yet to be signed, also sets a R$ two million penalty if he plays against São Paulo, plus R$ one point five million if he logs at least 45 minutes in 20 matches.
