Boca Juniors have been ruled against in their payment dispute with Emanuel "Bebelo" Reynoso after an appeal court sided with the player.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the National Labour Appeals Court overturned a first instance verdict and ordered Boca to pay USD 660,000 to Reynoso, plus interest.

The case stems from his 2020 move to Minnesota United in MLS and the 15% share of the transfer fee that by law belongs to the player.

During negotiations he signed a "donation" assigning that 15% to the club, but the court found the waiver invalid in this employment context and required Boca to recognise the debt.

Interest is set at one point five per cent per year, accruing from 27 August 2020 until full payment.

The ruling is a setback for Boca, who had prevailed at first instance. The club may still pursue further appeals, but the decision upholds Reynoso’s claim and voids the prior agreement.

Directors must now decide whether to continue the legal fight or settle to stop interest mounting, with the sum already weighing on the club’s finances.
