Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo may be 41, but he is still going strong for Portugal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The all-time leading goalscorer for Los Blancos netted a brilliant brace against Uzbekistan in Portugal’s second group game, which helped the team finish second behind Colombia.
Ronaldo met with injured Real Madrid forward Rodrygo after his side’s 0-0 draw against the South American side.
He offered a few encouraging words to Rodrygo as the Brazilian continues to work his way back from an ACL injury.
In a short exchange by MMajeedX on X, Cristiano asked the Brazilian: “How is it, the injury?”
Rodrygo replied: “Six months have already passed.”
Cristiano then followed up: “Are you feeling better?”
Rodrygo answered honestly: “Yes… It’s a bit annoying and boring, but everything’s fine.”
Cristiano’s advice was brief but meaningful. He told Rodrygo: “You need to be patient, everything will work out well.”
Rodrygo responded: “Alright, brother, thank you.”
Cristiano closed the exchange by saying: “Alright, brother.”
As Real Madrid supporters, this kind of moment carries emotional weight.
Cristiano remains one of the defining figures in the club’s modern history, and his words to a current Madrid forward naturally stand out.
Rodrygo’s situation has been difficult. Long injury recoveries can be mentally draining, especially for attacking players who rely on rhythm, confidence and explosiveness.

His comment that the process is “annoying and boring” feels very human. Injured players are often judged only by return dates, but the daily work behind recovery is repetitive and lonely.
That is why Cristiano’s advice lands well. He knows the pressure of Real Madrid, the demands of elite football and the frustration of needing to wait when all a player wants is to compete.
Rodrygo’s return will be interesting to see. Madrid are making moves in the transfer market, and the arrival of Bernardo Silva and the emergence of Arda Guler could reduce the Brazilian’s importance.
Cristiano’s message was short, but it came from experience. Be patient, trust the process and come back properly.
Los Blancos should not rush Rodrygo’s return. It remains to be seen how he recovers and what version of him Madrid get back after the injury.
