Manchester City have reportedly received an official offer for Manuel Akanji from Crystal Palace, according to new claims.
The Switzerland international’s future has been one of the major talking points in the final days of the summer transfer window, with growing interest in his signature both in the Premier League and abroad.
Manchester City, who are already managing ongoing questions over the futures of Ederson, Savinho, and Ilkay Gundogan among others, now face the prospect of losing yet another key figure from their historic Treble-winning side.
Recent reports have highlighted that Galatasaray were the first club to meet City’s £15 million valuation of Akanji, placing the defender in a position where he was left to decide his own future.
That Turkish interest extended beyond Akanji, with the Istanbul giants also keen on Ederson and maintaining a long-standing admiration for Gündoğan. Now, the focus has shifted closer to home, with a Premier League rival joining the chase.
The 30-year-old has been an important option for Pep Guardiola since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, providing tactical versatility and composure at the back. However, with just two years left on his contract and competition for places intensifying, the club appear willing to sanction a move at the right price.
According to the information of The Sun’s Kostas Lianos, Crystal Palace have now made an official offer for Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji, worth £15 million inclusive of bonuses.
While Palace’s bid aligns with the figure Manchester City have been holding out for, Akanji is weighing up his options with multiple clubs now in the mix. Alongside Galatasaray’s firm stance, earlier reports linked the defender with interest from elsewhere in Europe, raising the possibility of a competitive bidding scenario in the final days of the market.
Should Manuel Akanji move to Selhurst Park, it would represent a significant coup for Oliver Glasner’s side, who are not only seeking to strengthen their defensive line but also safeguard against the potential departure of Marc Guehi – who is attracting serious interest this summer.
For Manchester City, losing Akanji could accelerate their own plans to explore replacements, with Guehi himself already tentatively discussed by some reports as a potential £35 million target should both Akanji and Nathan Aké leave.
As the final week of the transfer window approaches, the question remains whether Manchester City will look to replace Akanji immediately or rely on their existing depth, which features the likes of Abdukodir Khusanov, Josko Gvardiol, and Nathan Ake.
