Cuiabano continues fitness work at Vasco, unlikely to be named against Fluminense | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Cuiabano is expected to remain out of Fernando Diniz's squad for the Campeonato Carioca semi-final first leg against Fluminense, as he continues a fitness reconditioning programme and is not yet training fully with the Vasco group.

The left-back has yet to be named in a matchday squad since arriving, having joined short of match sharpness compared with team-mates. He also experienced thigh discomfort last week.

For now, the plan is not to rush his return so he reaches the right rhythm. There is an expectation he could be available for the Santos match in the Campeonato Brasileiro next Thursday.

Thiago Mendes could also miss out. The midfielder felt knee pain during sessions this week at CT Moacyr Barbosa and is a doubt for the first leg.

Kick-off is at 18:00 Brasília time on Sunday at Nilton Santos.
