Vasco have taken a significant step toward signing left-back Cuiabano, who has accepted their salary terms and project. The club must now strike an agreement with Nottingham Forest.
According to Globo.com, Forest favour a sale, but Vasco have told them they cannot meet the eight to nine million euros demanded. That range equates to roughly R$ 49.7m to R$ 55.9m at current rates.
Vasco’s opening bid was a loan with an option that would become an obligation if pre-set targets were met. The package could reach six million euros, worth about R$ 37.2m, tied to those targets.
Forest’s proposed triggers were minimal, effectively turning the loan into an obligatory purchase. Vasco are pushing for stricter thresholds to find a middle ground.
Cuiabano is not featuring for Forest and wants to return to Brazil to regain visibility, with no imminent first-team prospects in England. The outcome of the deal now rests with the São Januário club.
