Liverpool will need to make a lot of changes to their squad if they want to become competitive again.
The Anfield outfit have massively struggled to put a string of wins together throughout most of the season and, now that Hugo Ekitike could be out until January, their job has just gotten a lot harder.
Indeed, Alexander Isak is slowly returning from injury which could mean that the Sweden international could have a massive impact on the way things pan out in L4 over the next couple of weeks.
But, if his 45-minute cameo against Paris Saint-Germain is anything to go off, it doesn't feel like he's going to do an awful lot.
This has caused many fans to start questioning whether the Reds need to bring in some new attacking talent which has caused many rumours to emerge.
And now, David Ornstein has shared his thoughts on the likelihood of Liverpool signing Anthony Gordon this summer.
Ever since Gordon joined Newcastle, it's been clear that Liverpool have been envious of his transfer.
When the attacker played for Everton, the Reds had a very strong interest in him but, because of the rivalry between the two clubs, the transfer was obviously never going to take place.
This has led to the Anfield outfit waiting patiently until they can make their move with rumours emerging once again that Arne Slot's men are interested in acquiring his services, especially since Ekitike is now injured.
However, as per the latest update from Ornstein, that unfortunately isn't the case.
"I'm not sure there truly is a favourite [to sign Gordon] at this point, Joseph, because it is still so early," he wrote on The Athletic's Q&A page.
"Bayern's interest is not new and we know the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool have coveted him previously, too.
"There are plenty of suggestions around the industry that Bayern could be the direction of travel - but I imagine they would need to shift somebody because they wouldn't want Gordon as a back-up and he won't want to go somewhere as a back-up.
"I don't know of him being at the top of Arsenal's list and from what I hear a move to Liverpool is not on his or their agenda, even after the Ekitike injury. Newcastle seem open to a sale but at the right price and if the reported £80m is true, that will not be easily achieved."
Of all the attackers that Liverpool have been linked with ahead of the summer window, the transfer of Gordon makes the most sense.
The winger has been one of Newcastle's best players over the last couple of years and, even though his performances haven't been the best this term, his statistics still prove that he's a top class player.
The fact that he can play anywhere across the front three is also a major bonus as, with the number of injuries that Liverpool have suffered this term, having players who can be used in multiple areas of the pitch is essential.
Gordon also has plenty of Premier League experience which is something that many of the Reds' new signings lacked this term.
And, since the Englishman already knows what it takes to play in England's top flight, he could easily become one of Slot's best players.
Liverpool can't afford to go through another transitional season this term so, any players who have previous Premier League experience need to be at the top of their list, especially if they want to start winning trophies again.
