Spurs hope to appoint former Brighton and Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi before their 12 April trip to Sunderland. Igor Tudor’s six-week interim spell ended on Sunday without a competitive win, leaving the club one point above the relegation zone.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported on X that De Zerbi is now considering a long-term offer from Spurs, a five-year deal, with talks to follow and the next hours potentially decisive.

De Zerbi is understood to be the preferred choice, though he had initially wanted to start before the season ends. Spurs are pushing for an immediate appointment.

Assistant Bruno Saltor is leading training while most players are on international duty. The club aim to have a new head coach in place when the squad returns later this week.

It was mutually agreed that Igor Tudor left with immediate effect, with Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci also departing. Support was offered following a recent bereavement, and an update on a successor was promised.

Injuries have hampered form, though some returns are hoped for after the break. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has had hernia surgery and could face Sunderland, otherwise Antonín Kinský would step in.

Mohammed Kudus and Rodrigo Bentancur are close to full training and could bolster depth even if short of starts. James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski may feature before season’s end, but Sunderland appears unlikely. Ben Davies could return, Wilson Odobert is out and Yves Bissouma is a doubt.
