Portuguese sporting director Deco has made it clear regarding the possibility of strengthening the squad during the winter transfer window, stating that the club is not planning any signings in January.

In an interview with the Spanish daily Sport, Deco explained that the internal situation of the team has stabilized despite the numerous injuries suffered in recent weeks.

He stated: “We went through a tough spell with injuries, but we managed to handle different situations. Today, we're doing well.”

The sporting director also pointed out how difficult it is to find meaningful solutions in the middle of winter:

“The winter transfer window is extremely tough, and finding a player who can truly improve the team is almost impossible. Sure, Barcelona have benefited from some winter signings in the past, like Aubameyang, who was a huge asset under Xavi, but that's not the case right now.”

Deco stressed that the decision is purely sporting and not financial: “The truth is, it's very difficult to find quality players who fit Barcelona's needs in a market like this. I maintain that no signings are necessary in January.”

Finally, he wrapped up by reiterating the club’s guiding principle: “We've set our objectives for this season and the coming years. The squad’s development started last season.”
