Brest beat Le Havre 2-0 at Stade Francis-Le Blé, consolidating ninth in Ligue 1 as the visitors slipped to 14th.
Romain Del Castillo broke the deadlock in the second minute of first half stoppage time, sweeping Kenny Lala's cut-back into the bottom right. The winger's timing punished Le Havre after a tight half.
Ludovic Ajorque doubled the lead (71.), finishing low from Kamory Doumbia's pass after a direct move through the middle.
Le Havre struggled in attack despite their territory. They failed to register a shot on target from 14 attempts.
The visitors also lost Gautier Lloris to injury (63.), with Stephan Zagadou introduced, as the game tilted away from them.
Le Havre saw 59.5% possession and slung in 23 crosses without reward. Brest were economical, turning 11 attempts and two on target into a clean sheet win.
