Fernando Diniz has set the recovery of out-of-form Corinthians players, support for academy prospects and the embedding of his style as the route back to victories. According to Globo.com, the new coach is prioritising individual and collective improvement to steady performances.
He assessed the squad during his first contact on Tuesday, arriving with prior knowledge of the group. He intends to work on team structure and individual issues during this dip.
Restoring midfielder Rodrigo Garro’s level is among his early tasks. Diniz, who has signed through the end of 2026, said at his unveiling at CT Joaquim Grava that Garro is highly talented and that he wants to help him rediscover that form.
He will also re-evaluate Alex Santana, a midfielder training apart from the group since returning from loan after a decision by Dorival Júnior. Diniz said he knows and likes the player, who is under contract until December 2027.
With a methodology built on organisation, possession and passing from the back, Diniz believes he can improve goalkeeper Hugo Souza’s work with the ball at his feet.
He will oversee a second training session on Wednesday before the squad fly to Argentina to face Platense in the opening round of the Conmebol Libertadores group stage on Thursday at 21:00 Brasília time.
