FULL-TIME
That's it at Old Trafford!
Manchester United hang on for a 1-0 win against Newcastle, banking their first home win since October!
The Red Devils climb up to fifth in the Premier League table with that result, while Newcastle are in danger of dropping further down the table pending results tomorrow.

One minute into the seven added minutes awarded. Newcastle continue to push for an equaliser that they arguably deserve on the night.
A pair of late changes for Man Utd now...
ON: Tyrell Malacia, Tyler Fredricson
OFF: Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martínez
CHANCE!
Gordon once again finds himself on the end of a chance from inside the area, but his effort from 12 yards out can only blaze clean over the bar after trying to wrap his foot around it.
Ten minutes remaining, plus stoppage. Can Man Utd hang on for three points or will Newcastle march back to Tyneside with a share of spoils?
Another change for the Magpies...
ON: Joe Willock
OFF: Sandor Tonali
CHANCE!
Diogo Dalot lets Newcastle off the hook as United fail to dispatch another big chance on the night, with the Portuguese defender settling in the box only to blaze his close-range effort over the bar.
Eddie Howe rings in the changes...
ON: Harvey Barnes, Yoane Wissa, Joelinton
OFF: Jacob Murphy, Nick Woltemade, Jacob Ramsey
CHANCE!
Anthony Gordon is slipped into just enough space at the near post to dispatch an effort toward goal, but the England international can only scuff his effort wide of the far post.
OFF THE BAR!
Lewis Hall comes close to leveling the score with a long-range hit of his own, that also rings off the bar!
Lemmens was well and truly beaten.
CHANCE!
Šeško rattles the bar after Man Utd win the ball in Newcastle's third of the pitch!
That's the second time the Slovenian striker should have probably hit the target this evening, and he's subbed off soon after, replaced by Joshua Zirkzee.
Casemiro is also taken off, with Lenny Yoro coming on.

CHANCE!
Fabian Schär nearly slips in the equaliser at the back post, but the effort from the Swiss defender is deflected just wide of Lemmens' goal after Dorgu does well to block.
PLAY RESUMES
One change for Man Utd before play resumed, with Jack Fletcher coming on to replace Mason Mount.
Dorgu is having arguably his best appearance in a Man Utd shirt since arriving from Lecce.
A watershed performance from the Dane?

HALF-TIME: Manchester United 1-0 Newcastle
A stunning volley from Danish international Patrick Dorgu is the difference as the Red Devils enjoy a one-goal advantage at Old Trafford.
Amorim's outfit has been the better of the two sides despite the absence of Bruno Fernandes, with the Magpies continuing their struggles on the road in the 2025/26 Premier League season.

CHANCE!
Dorgu picks his head up and lets fly a low drive from inside the area, this time from the right side of Newcastle's box, but Ramsdale was equal to the task.
United are purring here. Could they find a second before half-time?
GOAL!!
Patrick Dorgu unleashes a blockbuster of a volley from just outside the box to beat Aaron Ramsdale low at his near post to lift Man United into the lead.
What a hit!

CHANCE
A goalline scramble in United's box sees the Magpies come close to breaking the deadlock, but the Red Devils clear their lines.
Top-class reaction save from Senne Lammens to keep the initial deflected Casemiro header out.
CHANCE
Benjamin Šeško spurns a half-decent chance inside the box, receiving in a crowded area before turning to get a shot off, only to see his effort sail well high and wide.
KICK OFF
And we're off at Old Trafford for one of the iconic clashes of the Premier League era
Per Squawka, this is only the 10th time out of a possible 222 Premier League matches where Bruno Fernandes was not included in the Red Devils starting XI due to injury.
Manchester United have lost each of their last five league outings where the Portuguese talisman did not start.
Ominous signs?
Boxing Day 2025 will be running a little light this evening, but nonetheless, we can sit back and enjoy a tasty encounter between Manchester United and Newcastle at Old Trafford.
In case you missed them, here are the starting XIs for tonight's clash...
