Corinthians have reopened talks to bring back left-back Fabrizio Angileri, 31, with coach Dorival Júnior saying discussions are well advanced, though not yet resolved.

Speaking on Wednesday at CT Joaquim Grava, Dorival added that the group know the Argentine and, if a deal happens, he would be welcomed and given time to integrate. According to Globo.com, the club are offering a contract through to the end of 2026.

Angileri has not had offers since leaving in December and wants to return for the season, while keeping fit with personal trainers.

Dorival’s current options at left-back are Matheus Bidu and Hugo.

Attention also turned to Martínez, 31, who remains in Venezuela and has not returned to Brazil since the holidays. He applied for a new Venezuelan passport on 13 January, 10 days after the squad regrouped, and is awaiting the document.

Dorival voiced frustration, saying the absence hinders a squad light in that position and that there is only one change available for a defensive midfield role. He said the issue should have been handled earlier, although the intervention in Martínez’s country must be considered, and added that explanations and decisions will follow when the player arrives.
