Dorival avoids timeline for debuts and praises Alisson, a rival midfielder wanted by Corinthians | OneFootball

Corinthians lost 3-0 to Bragantino on Thursday and Dorival Júnior declined to set a timeframe for the debuts of Matheus Pereira and Pedro Milans, while praising São Paulo midfielder Alisson, who is on the club’s radar.

Dorival said Pereira and Milans must first complete exams and be prepared before selection. He contrasted their situations with Gabriel Paulista, who had been playing, was announced on Sunday and debuted in the defeat at Estádio Municipal Cícero de Souza Marques in the Campeonato Paulista second round. Alisson missed São Paulo’s game against São Bernardo on Thursday due to a new approach from Corinthians executive Marcelo Paz, according to ge.globo.

Pereira, signed from Fortaleza, and Milans, formerly of Peñarol, arrived in São Paulo this week to finalise paperwork. Despite undergoing medicals, neither has been officially unveiled as the club awaits registration.

Dorival described Alisson as a great player but stressed he belongs to a rival, adding that when there is interest, boardrooms talk and any discussions must be conducted with respect.

Corinthians have made initial contact to gather information and assess a deal for the 32-year-old, who is under contract with São Paulo until December 2027. Two possibilities are being considered, a player swap or a loan with a set fee. Alisson worked under Dorival in 2023 and became a key midfielder in the Copa do Brasil win.

Corinthians host São Paulo on Sunday at 16:00 at the Neo Química Arena in the third round of the state competition.
