Corinthians beat Capivariano 3-0 at Neo Química Arena on Thursday night in the Campeonato Paulista’s sixth round, but first-half injuries to Kaio César and Hugo Farias took the shine off the win. Dorival Júnior offered a cautious update, according to Meu Timao.

With Sunday’s derby in mind, Dorival rotated and started both players. After a challenge on 15 minutes, Kaio felt pain in the back of his left thigh and was replaced by Dieguinho.

On 40 minutes, Hugo tangled with Mike on the left, his leg stuck in the turf, and he departed with pain in his right knee. Matheus Bidu came on before the interval.

Dorival said it was too early for any diagnosis and that a clearer picture should emerge on Friday. He indicated Hugo’s issue might be a little more serious than Kaio’s, though not as severe as first feared.

Corinthians’ medical department is currently empty. If the setbacks are confirmed, Kaio and Hugo would join midfielder José Martínez among the absentees, as the Venezuelan has not reported to CT Dr. Joaquim Grava this season while in Venezuela seeking a new passport.

Corinthians host Palmeiras on Sunday, eight February, at 20:30 at Neo Química Arena in the seventh round, a direct contest for the lead.
