Latest reports suggest Manchester United are making major progress on signing both Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap and Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo.
The Red Devils are emerging as the clear favourites for these two Premier League stars, in what looks like a hugely exciting development as Ruben Amorim looks to rebuild this squad.
It’s been a nightmare season at Old Trafford, with the club losing yet again in the league this weekend to stay 16th in the table.
Even if Man Utd are in the Europa League final and possibly set to clinch Champions League qualification, Amorim will surely be under no illusions that major work is needed in the transfer market.
For now, most United fans will be making plans for the weekend and trying to find out how to buy Chelsea vs Man United tickets, but there will inevitably be chatter about this summer’s transfer targets as well.
For one thing, there is likely to be some competition with Chelsea for Delap, who has long been linked strongly with the Blues.
Delap looks like he’d be an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson at Stamford Bridge, while he also has connections with some key figures at the club, such as Joe Shields, who has also been instrumental in signing other former Manchester City youngsters like Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia.
Still, Delap’s preference now seems to be for a move to United, who urgently need a replacement for the misfiring Rasmus Hojlund.

If Semenyo joins as well, that looks like a far more dangerous attack developing, with Amorim also in need of upgrades on flops and misfits like Marcus Rashford and Antony.
Numerous other big names are also being linked with MUFC at the moment, and it seems the club are keen to do their shopping in the Premier League.
Matheus Cunha and Adam Wharton are two other high-profile players to watch, while Tyler Dibling is sure to be on the market after Southampton’s relegation.
It remains to be seen who will end up being the top priorities for the club, but it makes sense to target proven Premier League players as much as possible.
The Red Devils have learned the hard way before that talents from abroad can end up looking like far worse players in England, such as Hojlund, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Andre Onana.
