Dourado sends América into Quarterfinals in draw against Philadelphia Union

MEXICO CITY – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continued with Club América and Philadelphia Union playing to a 1-1 draw in the Second Leg of their Round of 16 series, with the Mexican side winning 2-1 on aggregate, on Wednesday at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico.
Club América looked to extend its 1-nil advantage, obtained in the First Leg, and was able to do so early on. Las Águilas pulled ahead in the 6’, with Rodrigo Dourado heading home a set piece curled into the box by Raphael Veiga.
Jesús Bueno converted a penalty in the 49’ to shorten Philadelphia’s deficit on aggregate.
Rodrigo Dourado was named the Superior Player of the Match presented by Michelob Ultra. The Brazilian midfielder provided the series-winning goal on top of providing two interceptions, two clearances, two duels won and one tackle won.

• Rodrigo Dourado (Club América) scored his second goal across all competitions against Liga MX and MLS opposition. His first came with Atlético San Luis against Orlando City in the 2024 Leagues Cup (1-1).
• With this win, Club América advanced from a Concacaf Champions Cup series when closing at home for the 15th time in 16 instances since the format change in 2008. The only exception came against Toronto FC in the 2018 Semifinals.
• Raphael Veiga (Club América) assisted Rodrigo Dourado’s goal. Since joining the club, the Brazilian has recorded six direct goal contributions (3 goals, 3 assists) across Concacaf Champions Cup and Liga MX, the most for Las Águilas in that span.
• Philadelphia’s equalizer, scored by Jesús Bueno, marked the club’s sixth consecutive penalty conversion in the Concacaf Champions Cup. The last time they missed a penalty in the competition was also against Club América in 2021.
• Jesús Bueno made his 100th appearance for Philadelphia across all competitions and scored his first goal for the club. It was also the first penalty he has taken (excluding shootouts).
• Philadelphia ended a run of three consecutive matches without scoring against Mexican clubs in the Concacaf Champions Cup. Their
Club América advances to the Quarterfinals where it will face another MLS side in Nashville SC.
