Bayern Munich clinched the Bundesliga with a 4-2 win at VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, but were hit by an injury setback as Serge Gnabry suffered a torn right adductor ahead of the match.
According to BuLi News, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl expects the forward to miss the World Cup with Germany.
“He probably won’t be able to play again this season. Everything else is, to some extent, up in the air,” Eberl told reporters after Bayern’s win on Sunday.
“When you’re 30 or 31, you probably still have one World Cup ahead of you. I don’t know how long he will keep playing, but it could have been his last chance,” he continued, adding:
“I feel sorry for him because he would have played a very important role for the German national team at the World Cup.”
Gnabry, 30, missed both the 2018 World Cup and Euro 2024 due to injuries, but was part of Germany’s squads for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
