Edu’s role at Nottingham Forest is under scrutiny amid claims he has been told to keep away from the training ground. The Telegraph reports that his future is in significant doubt, despite the club insisting he continues his duties as normal, and that an exit is anticipated before the season ends.
The Brazilian has held the head of global football post for eight months during a turbulent campaign. Forest have had four managers, with Nuno Espirito Santo dismissed after a clash with Edu following his arrival.
Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche then endured brief and disappointing stints, and Dyche was sacked last month after 114 days in charge.
He is also said to have been asked to avoid fixtures. Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City was his third successive absence.
Edu’s arrival had been viewed as a coup, given the acclaim he earned at Arsenal as Mikel Arteta’s side re-emerged as title challengers.
At Forest his remit spans recruitment, squad planning and player development. Around £200 million was spent in the summer, and recent signings have faced scrutiny as results have slumped.
