Ekitike relishing Isak competition after Liverpool transfer | OneFootball

Hugo Ekitike has said he is relishing the competition that Alexander Isak will bring after the latter’s record-breaking move to Liverpool.

Liverpool completed the signing of Isak from Newcastle United in a £125m British record deal on transfer deadline day. The Swedish striker arrives recognised as one of Europe’s best forwards and completes an overhaul of Arne Slot’s attacking options.

Ekitike signed for Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this summer and has made an impressive start to his career at Anfield. The Frenchman has netted three times in four appearances for the Reds, and insists he is unafraid of the competition Isak will bring.

In comments published by Fabrizio Romano, Ekitike said it is a ‘pleasure’ to see Isak sign and said competition is inevitable when playing for one of Europe’s best clubs.

“When you play for the best teams, you inevitably expect to be competing with the best players and Isak is among them,” he said on his new teammate.

“Seeing him arrive is a pleasure. It’s going to be tough competition, but I’m going to work hard to be good and perform at my best.”
