According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are accelerating their move to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson and Manchester United are not expected to attempt a hijack.

Talks are ongoing, the player is keen on joining City regardless of Pep Guardiola and amid a managerial change, and the process could quicken in the coming days.

Forest have rejected two City bids for Anderson.

The latest offer was worth more than £120m, comprising £106m up front and £15m in potential add-ons.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis is considered a tough negotiator and is thought to be seeking a package up to £130m, which would make Anderson the third most expensive signing in history.
